and the residents of a British village near their fictional base. |

Poltava
This is original footage of
388th planes landing
at Poltava, Russia, on a shuttle mission after
bombing the synthetic oil complexes at Ruhland,
south of Berlin. That night, German bombers
returned the compliment, bombing Poltava and
destroying 11 of the 388th aircraft.
No personnel were injured in that attack.

2003 Visit to the Old Air Base
Veterans and their families
returned to Knettishall
once more in 2003 and this time were treated to flights
from the old air field. The large concrete section is all
that is left of the main runway, although perimeter roads, an
original T-2 hanger and some hardstands still exist.
